ANIMALS GALORE
We are lucky enough to be situated on a beautiful farm with horses, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, an aviary with birds, quails, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs and 3 cats – Sweep, Bonnie and Clyde.
SEASONAL ACTIVITIES
As well as our year-round activities, being in a green space means our events are also seasonal and revolve around:
Spring - planting and gardening, nature walks
Summer - water activities, BBQs, picnics, ball games
Autumn - foraging, leaf picking, pumpkin carving
Winter - more indoor creative activities, cooking and baking and being cosy in the barn watching movies, dance and movement and fitness, educational / things of interest on the television / YouTube - Did you know a chicken can recognise 20 different faces?
BENEFITS OF NATURE-BASED ACTIVITIES
A recent Hubbub polling fund that spending time in nature makes three-quarters (78%) of people feel better but despite this a third of people in the UK (36%) spend less than an hour a week in nature. Jacks Place Care would like to help change this. We are passionate about the environment and nature here at Jacks and we are doing our bit to help combat climate change and reduce CO2 omissions – the more connected we feel to nature, the more likely we are to do things that help protect it.
LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
We offer our clients the chance to learn about horticulture, conservation, animal care and animal assisted therapy, as well as creative activities - arts and crafts, cooking and baking, physical activities (particularly in summer – football, cricket, golf, all manner of ball games, movement and dancing, jigsaws and puzzles – but mostly to have fun!
We offer transport to all our clients on our 18-seater community bus.
We have our own in-house creative artist, who bases a lot of her activities on nature and education - using the natural resources we are lucky enough to have at Jacks.
There is something for everyone at Jacks Place Care. Our team of staff are highly creative and regularly change activities to cater for the needs and wishes of our clients.
